Antipyrone

Each 1 ml contains:

Dipyrone 500 mg

Antipyrone is a potent central analgesic, antipyretic and antirheumatic agent with marked sedative and spasmolytic properties on animals.

It is indicated in the following cases:

–   Catarrhal-spasmatic colic, meteorism and intestinal constipation in horses.

–   Spasms of the uterine cervix during birth.

–   Pains of urinary and biliary origin.

–   Neuralgia and neuritis.

–   Acute gastric dilation, accompanied by severe colic attacks.

–   For allaying the irritability of the animals and preparing them for stomach lavage in horses.

–   Esophageal obstruction, joint and muscular rheumatism.

–   For preparation of surgical and obstetrical interventions.

Administered by Intramuscular or Intravenous injection.

–  Horses:  20 – 50 mg/ Kg bodyweight (2 – 4.5 ml / 45 Kg bodyweight).

–  Cattle: 20 – 40 mg / Kg bodyweight (2 – 3.5 ml / 45 Kg bodyweight).

–  Dogs:  1 ml / 10 Kg bodyweight.

Administration: 2 – 3 times daily for a maximum of 2 days.

–  Concurrent administration of Barbiturate, Chlorpromazine or Phyneylbutazone.

–  Contraindicated to be given to racing animals within 5 days before a race.

–  Dipyrone and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatories such as aspirin and flunixin meglumine are contraindicated in cats for treatment of heat stroke. Use of dipyrone is discouraged because dosages for cats are not well established, and the side effects include bone marrow suppression and clotting abnormalities, especially with long-term use.

–  Animal’s meat should not be used during treatment and within 12 days from the last treatment.

–  Milk should not be used during treatment and within 4 days from the last treatment.

–  In race-horses a withholding period of 5 days is recommended before the race.
