Description
Each 1 ml contains:
Colistin (as sulphate) 2 MIU
Colistin is a polypeptide antibiotic belonging to the polymyxin class. It exerts a bactericidal action. It’s effective against a range of gram negative bacteria, such as enterobacteriaceae and in particular Escherichia coli
Colistin is poorly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract
Colisol is indicated for the treatment of gastrointestinal infections caused by non-invasive Escherichia coli in calves, lambs and poultry.
To be administered orally.
Calves and lambs: 100,000 IU of colistin per kg bodyweight (0.25 ml/ 5 kg bodyweight) daily for 3 – 5 consecutive days. The recommended daily dose should be divided into two if the product is to be administered directly into the mouth of the animal.
Poultry: 75,000 IU of colistin per kg bodyweight (0.25 ml/ liter of drinking water) daily for 3 – 5 consecutive days.
Administration via drinking water:
(ml Colisol per kg bodyweight per day X Average bodyweight (kg) ) / Average daily water intake (liter/animal) = ml Colisol per Liter of drinking water.
