Exovet (Oral Solution)
Exovet (Oral Solution) is a veterinary medicine formulated with Fluralaner (10 mg per 1 ml). It is indicated for the treatment of Poultry Red Mite (D. gallinae) and Northern Fowl Mite (O.sylviarum) infestations in chickens, specifically pullets, breeders, and layer hens. Exovet is also effective against external parasites in sheep for various situations, including off-shears, shorn sheep, unshorn lambs, and ewes with lambs at foot
- Effective against key poultry mites: Treats Poultry Red Mite and Northern Fowl Mite infestations in chickens.
- Broad spectrum efficacy in sheep: Effective on a wide range of sheep types, including off-shears, shorn, unshorn lambs, and sheep with varying wool lengths.
- Zero-day egg and wool withdrawal: Eggs from treated chickens and wool from treated sheep have no withdrawal period, allowing for continued production.
- Versatile administration: Can be given via drinking water for chickens and orally with drench equipment for sheep.
- Dual-species treatment: Exovet is indicated for use in both chickens and sheep, offering a single product solution for different livestock.
- Flexible chicken administration window: The medicated water for chickens can be administered over a period of 4 to 24 hours, allowing for adaptation to flock drinking patterns.
- Specific dosage guidelines for various sheep weights: The product provides a detailed dosage table for sheep, ensuring accurate administration across different body weights, with an additional calculation for sheep over 100 kg.
- Long interval between chicken treatments: If another course of treatment is needed for chickens, there's a minimum 3-month interval, potentially reducing frequency of intervention.
- Ewe and lamb co-treatment: Ewes and lambs can be treated together after lambing has finished, simplifying management.
Description
Each 1 ml contains:
Fluralaner 10 mg
Treatment of Poultry Red Mite (D. gallinae) and Northern Fowl Mite (O.sylviarum) infestations in pullets, breeders and layer hens.
Exovet has been shown to be effective on a wide range of sheep across a large number of studies including off-shears, shorn sheep up to 7 days off-shears, unshorn lambs, sheep with short and long wool, and off-shears and long wool ewes with lambs at foot.
Chickens (pullets, chickens for reproduction and layer hens), Sheep.
In chickens:
Administered orally via drinking water.
0.5 mg fluralaner / kg bodyweight (equivalent to 0.05 ml of Exovet) administered twice, 7 days apart. The complete course of treatment must be administered for a full therapeutic effect. If another course of treatment is indicated, the interval between two courses of treatment should be at least 3 months.
Determine the duration of time (between 4 and 24 hours) over which to administer the medicated water on the treatment day. This period of time must be long enough to allow all the birds to receive the required dose. Estimate how much water birds will consume during treatment based on the previous day’s water consumption. The product should be added to a volume of water that the chickens will consume in one day. No other source of drinking water should be available during the medication period.
To ensure administration of the correct dose, the body weight should be determined.
The required volume of product for each treatment day is calculated from the total body weight (kg) of the entire group of chickens to be treated, using the following formula:
ml product/treatment day = Total estimated BW (kg) of chickens to be treated X 0.05 mL
In Sheep:
Administer orally using accurate drench equipment or syringes.
The recommended dose rate is 0.15 ml/kg bodyweight (equivalent to 1.5 mg fluralaner/kg bodyweight).
Dose rate: 1.5 ml/10 kg bodyweight. As the following table:
Body weight (kg) | Dose (ml) |
6-10 | 1.5 |
11-16 | 2.5 |
17-20 | 3.0 |
21-30 | 4.5 |
31-40 | 6.0 |
41-50 | 7.5 |
51-60 | 9 |
61-70 | 11 |
71-80 | 12 |
81-90 | 14 |
91-100 | 15 |
