Description
Each 1 ml contains:
Sulfadimidine Sodium 333 mg
Indicated for the treatment of infections caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to Sulfadimidine in cattle and sheep.
Effectivity in vitro against: Bordetella bronchiseptica, E. coli, Mannheimia haemolytica, Salmonella Dublin, Salmonella typhimurium and Actinobacillus lignieresi.
Specific indications: Enteritis caused by E.coli, Salmonella Dublin and Salmonella typhimurium, salmonellosis and septicemia caused by S.dublin and S.typhimurium, pasturellosis and infections of respiratory tract caused by Mannheimia haemolytica, atrophic rhinitis, wooden tongue, calf diphtheria, metritis and mastitis in cattle and coccidiosis in calves.
Administered by Intravenous or subcutaneous injection.
Initial dose: 200 mg active ingredient/ kg bodyweight (6 ml/ 10 kg body weight).
Maintenance dose: 100 mg active ingredient/ kg bodyweight (3ml/ 10 kg body weight).
administered at 24 hours interval, maximum period of treatment is 5 days.
-Not more than 50 ml should be administered in cattle at one injection site.
-Not more than 10 ml should be administered in sheep at one injection site
-Hypersensitivity to sulfonamides, severe liver damage and bloody dyscrasias.
-Therapeutic doses are relatively non-toxic, but agranulocytosis, haemolytic anemia and avitaminosis-K have been reported following prolonged administration. Prolonged treatment with the product should be avoided, especially in young stocks.
-Ensure adequate water intake during treatment, and take particular care in the case of animals suffering from renal damage.
-Sulfadimidine is incompatible with para-aminobenzoic acid and its esters (e.g. procaine or tetracaine).
-Don’t administer sulfadimidine simultaneously with hexamethylene tetramine (methenamine).
-Intravenous injections should be given slowly.
-To minimize local tissue reaction following subcutaneous injection, it is advisable to divide the dose into two or three parts and inject into several sites, massage injection site well.
-Milk may not be taken for human consumption during treatment. Milk from cattle may only be taken for human consumption after 156 hours (6.5 days) from the last treatment.
-Not for use in sheep producing milk for human consumption.
-Cattle and sheep may be slaughtered for human consumption only after 18 days from the last treatment.
Store in a dry and dark place at temperature below 30 ˚C.
